In the midst of sorrow
I don't believe unconditional love, between human adults - even love partners - is a healthy process. And it's not been the norm for me in my pet relationships, of which there have been many.
But when it does occur - it's magical.
The reason it's becoming abundantly clear that pet ownership increases the joy and length of life is because it's incredibly beneficial to feel you are a person of significance in the eyes of something that loves you back unconditionally.
Since I've decided - long before the loss of Jaq, too free myself from the responsibility of pet ownership - I fear it's a loss I'll feel for the rest of my life. Unless, of course, I change my views and again invest in the daring experiment of searching for unconditional love.
Jaq - pick of the litter

The boys in the web cam below are not our dogs
10-23-16 We only have one Corgi since Jaq passed this morning - but I just can't take the webcam down - reminds me too much of that wonderful, joyful, playful boy we called Jaq.
We all miss you buddy
