Really :) The oldest I've had was 8. It depends on their situation when they come to the rescue.

really - eight years old? what's the normal life span of a guinea pig? more than eight years?

I think it's about 8 or 9 years if you're lucky. Unfortunately, pet store piggies usually don't make it that long. We've noticed over the last few years that the rescue piggies are living longer and longer and we think it's because of the amount of care and the attention they get. Seems when they come in young, they get on the right track :)

it probably  doesn't  pay  to be a pet of any kind when particular humans are involved :tears:

humans aren't very nice to other humans - much less other species :tears:

lot's of credit to you and your group for trying to mitigate some of the damage :manhug:

no doubt about it  male hormones have no place in a beloved pet :giggle: especially when the pet owners are our age

lol - at least it's only something he has to go through once!:giggle:
we had to get our Moomy cat done really young as she had horrendous hormones and was on heat permanently 24-7 from about 6 weeks old *-* even now 8 years after she's been spayed she still has mild 'heat waves' :faint:
